On March 23, McTominay was one of four players to be called up for Scotland’s first game under McLeish. He started the match and played 57 minutes before being substituted by Stuart Armstrong. In September 2018, he made his international debut for Scotland as a 79th-minute substitute for Callum McGregor in a 2–0 victory over Albania.
