On May 26, 2018, Choudhury made his debut for the England under-21 national team in a 2–1 victory over China under-21 at the 2018 Toulon Tournament. Choudhury started for England in their next game, a 0–0 draw against Mexico.

Choudhury was included in England’s 23-man squad for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship on May 27. Still, he was sent off with a straight red card for a dangerous tackle during the second half of the opening 2–1 defeat to France in Cesena.

Leicester City

He began his career with Leicester City’s academy and, at the age of 16, was tracked by several top European clubs. On February 27, 2016, Choudhury signed a one-month loan deal with Burton Albion, who were League One leaders. He made his debut the next day, coming on as a 77th-minute substitute for Tom Naylor in a 0–0 draw at Walsall at the Pirelli Stadium.

On August 6, 2016, Choudhury signed a loan agreement with Burton Albion for the upcoming season. Choudhury played in Burton’s first-ever Championship match on the same day, assisting in a 4–3 loss against Nottingham Forest.

On September 19, 2017, Choudhury made his professional debut for Leicester City in the EFL Cup third round against Liverpool as a late substitute. He scored in the two largest football competitions in Europe, becoming the first Bangladeshi player to do so. He’s also the first British Asian to score in European competitions since Michael Chopra in the defunct UEFA Intertoto Cup.

On April 11, 2021, Choudhury was one of three players removed from Leicester’s team for the match against West Ham United after violating COVID-19 regulations.
