Because of his father’s origins, Brahim was eligible to play for Morocco. Brahim is a youth international for Spain and made his first appearances at 16 when everybody praised him for his displays for Spain’s U17s in the 2016 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

Following the encouraging COVID-19 test of Sergio Busquets, Spain chose Spain’s under-21 squad to participate in an international friendly against Lithuania on June 8, 2021. Brahim scored the second goal in his senior debut in a 4–0 win.

Manchester City

Brahim started his career with his hometown team, Malaga, before moving to Manchester City in 2015 for a £200,000 fee as a 16-year-old. On September 21, 2016, Díaz made his first appearance for the club as an 80th-minute substitute in an EFL Cup game against Swansea City. He signed his first professional contract with City on October 5, 2016, lasting three years.

On November 21, Brahim made his Champions League debut for Man City against Feyenoord, coming on in the final minutes for Raheem Sterling. On December 19, Brahim debuted for Manchester City in the League Cup, playing 88 minutes and earning a victory over Leicester City.

He made his Premier League bow on January 20, 2018, in a 3–1 win at Newcastle United. He received a medal for four more league appearances throughout the season on May 13.

Real Madrid

On January 6, following months of speculation and his contract with Manchester City set to expire in June 2019, Brahim signed for Real Madrid for a reported £15.5 million fee (about €17 million). His deal includes future bonuses that could increase the transfer price to £22 million (€24 million).

The move also contains provisions that state If Brahim leaves Madrid and transfers to “another Manchester club,” he would be owed a 15% sell-on payment by City, which would climb to 40% if he leaves Madrid and moves to “another Manchester team.”

On January 9, 2019, he made his La Liga debut in a 3–0 victory over Leganés. His league bow came four days later when he replaced Giovani Lo Celso in Real Betis’s 2–1 defeat of Real Madrid. He scored his first goal for the club on May 12, 2019, in a 1-3 loss to Real Sociedad.

He featured six games during the league campaign, as Real Madrid won the 2019–20 La Liga.

Loan To AC Milan

On September 4, 2020, Real Madrid announced that Brahim would join AC Milan on loan for the rest of the 2020–21 season. Likewise, On September 27, he scored his first goal in a 2–0 away win over Crotone.

On May 9, 2021, he scored a hat-trick in a 3–0 away defeat of Juventus. Following the 2020–21 campaign, he was loaned to Milan for another two years with a buyout option. He scored against Liverpool in a 3–2 loss in the UEFA Champions League on September 15, 2021.
