Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, better known as DaBaby, is an American rapper and songwriter. He is well-known for his debut studio album, ‘Baby on Baby.’ DaBaby was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the youngest of three children from his parents’ marriage.
Even as a youngster, he had numerous run-ins with the law. He graduated from ‘Zebulon B. Vance High School’ in Charlotte. Since he was a kid, music has always been his passion, but it was only recently that he became dedicated to being a rapper.
He began rapping under the moniker “Baby Jesus” shortly after. DaBaby gained a following after releasing his debut mixtape, ‘Nonfiction,’ in 2015. However, with the release of his single ‘Light Show’ in 2016, he truly rose to fame.

Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, known as DaBaby, was born on December 22, 1991, in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the youngest of three sons, and the family relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1999.

His debut album, “Baby on Baby,” was released on March 1, 2019, after a bidding war among record labels. DaBaby signed a seven-figure contract with Interscope due to the mixtape’s popularity. On March 1, 2019, he released his debut studio album, “Baby on Baby,” which included the singles “Suge” and “Baby Sitter” (featuring Offset).
The song “Suge” became a top-ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts while also earning DaBaby two Grammy nods.
Then, in September of 2019, the follow-up single “Kirk” came out, and the songs “Intro,” “Bop,” and “Vibez” were all certified Platinum or higher. In 2019, 22 of his singles charted in the Hot 100, more than any other artist that year.
On April 17, 2020, he released his third solo album, “Blame It on Baby,” and the single “Rockstar” reached number one in a dozen countries and was certified Double Platinum or higher in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

Concerts & Festivals
DaBaby received boos while walking to the stage at a concert in Tampa, Florida after he assaulted a female fan in 2020.
He abandoned the concert without performing a single song, and he later explained that he hit the woman because her phone was too close to his face while filming with the flash on.
“I’m sorry that there was a female on the other end of that flashlight on their phone,” he stated. “Keep in mind that I couldn’t see you since you flashed the light so close to me. “
In July 2021, DaBaby caught criticism for making homophobic comments at Miami’s Rolling Loud Festival and his appearances at Lollapalooza, the Governors Ball Music Festival, Austin City Limits Festival, Parklife Festival, iHeartRadio Music Festival, Day N Vegas, and Music Midtown got canceled.
BoohooMAN, a fashion firm, announced it would end its relationship with DaBaby because of his comments only weeks after releasing his 100-piece summer collection.

DaBaby has two daughters. His older daughter, MeMe, is the mother of his first child with an ex-girlfriend; she has a son named Caleb from a prior relationship whom DaBaby refers to as “the eldest of my three.” He added that he was “blessed” and “The blood of Christ covers me.”
Two armed men approached DaBaby while shopping with his family at a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina, in 2018.
In the early hours of July 24, an altercation broke out, and one of the men, Jalyn Craig, 19, was fatally shot in the stomach. Likewise, DaBaby stated that he fired shots in self-defense and that security camera footage would prove it.
Legal Issues
He was sentenced to a year of unsupervised probation in June 2019 after being convicted of carrying a concealed weapon. Members of his crew, according to reports, robbed and assaulted a music promoter who owed DaBaby $10,000 in early 2020 while he became part of the same investigation in Miami.
According to reports, they stole $80, a credit card, and an iPhone 7. After they learned there was a warrant for his arrest in Texas owing to a battery allegation, the Miami authorities arrested DaBaby. He got charged with battery over the Miami robbery, but he was freed from jail after 48 hours due to overcrowding.
